The Need in Malawi

For nearly four decades Reaching Nations has worked in Malawi serving both the physical and spiritual needs of the people. Through this work we have seen firsthand how closely daily life is tied to agriculture and how food security affects every part of life.

For many families, what they are able to grow determines whether they have food to eat, income to survive, and stability for their children. When the rains fail, the impact is felt not just economically, but in health, education, and family well-being.

Through years of ministry and development work we have consistently seen several challenges:

• Heavy dependence on rain-fed agriculture
• Limited access to irrigation and improved farming systems
• Post-harvest losses due to inadequate storage
• Limited access to agricultural resources and training

Because we care about the whole person, we believe strengthening food security is one of the most practical ways to strengthen families and communities.

This is why we are developing Agricultural Innovation Malawi (AIM) as one important part of our ongoing work in Malawi.
